Help Shape #Oregon Sounds

The Oregon State Song Anthology is a statewide listening and voting campaign that invites Oregonians of all ages to help create a living cultural symbol through music. It doesn’t replace the current state song; it expands the story we all share. By listening, voting, and sounding together, we reflect the Oregon we know: the land, our people, and the ways we shape one another. Explore new songs inspired by Oregon’s landscapes, histories, and communities, and vote for the one that connects most with you. This is the first anthology, a beginning shaped by all of us. These songs stay alive in our voices, our gatherings, and the ways we carry them forward. By participating, you help create a song path for future generations. The results will be shared with legislators, and the songs will continue to live in communities across the state, no matter what.

Listen. Vote. Belong.

Let's Go Oregon!!

What We’re Inspiring

We are inspiring a statewide listening movement. Oregon’s Song Choice Award is a call to listen, to return to these songs again and again, notice how they feel in your body, and pay attention to the values and stories they carry. This is  not about picking a single “winner.” It’s about amplifying the songs that help us practice the kind of Oregon we want to grow toward together.

What We’re Asking

During this 6‑month campaign, we will share what we’ve learned with community partners and state leaders. We are asking Oregon legislators to adopt the full Oregon State Song Anthology, the songs, the listening process, and the ongoing practice  as a living cultural state symbol that can grow with the people it represents, generation by generation. By participating, you help make this invitation louder. Everyone who listens, reflects, votes, and shares is part of amplifying this song path for future generations.

Step 1 – Listen

During our 6–month campaign, we’ll release 15 new songs inspired by Oregon. Take time to  listen with care, return to the music, notice how it feels in your body, emotions, and let it accompany your days. Deep listening grows compassion and connection between us.

Step 2 – Reflect

Pay attention to what the songs stir in you. What memories arise? What values feel present? How does the music reflect the Oregon you know or the Oregon you hope we are growing toward? Use these reflection questions:

  • How deeply do you feel connected to this song?
  • How does this song feel in your body and emotions when you listen to it?
  • Would you like to learn this song and share it with others in your community?
  • Can you imagine this song accompanying your life—at gatherings, reflections, or everyday moments?
  • How well does this song reflect values you would like Oregon to grow toward together?

July 2026 during America’s 250th Semiquincentennial (Anniversary of the founding of the United States), we’ll hold an Intergenerational Public Vote.  You’ll have the opportunity  to vote for Oregon’s Song Choice Award. Choose a song that connects us, a song you want to carry forward, learn, and share.

Step 3 – Choose
Step 4 – Share

By the January 2027 legislative session, we’ll come together by creating videos of Oregonians singing, listening, and dancing to these songs. We’ll share what we’re learning with each other, and Oregonians will share their choices with Oregon legislators and state representatives. Together, we’ll amplify these songs and help create a cultural symbol for our state. We amplify these songs and help create a cultural symbol for future generations.
